God at work...

Let me begin by saying that my family and I have been reading Proverbs, one chapter a day, as suggested by Brother Joel. We split each chapter so that each member of our family reads an equal number of verses. After each person reads we pause and discuss those verses. My family has been blessed by this study.

Secondly, let me explain that my 2nd grader Morgan is a voracious reader. At the beginning of this school year she tested at an 8th grade reading level. Last Monday she went to the Public Library and checked out 10 books, mostly science fiction types filled with wizards, dragons, and the like. (For the record, I detest that type of reading.)

On that Wednesday Morgan's class was to bring a beach towel, snack, drink, and a book to read. They were going to go outside and sit on their towels in the beautiful outdoors, eat their snacks and read their books. This was a Big Deal! On Tuesday night before bed Morgan came up to me and excitedly asked if I wanted to see the book she had chosen to take to school to read while outside. (To be honest, I didn't. I knew it was going to involve demons or dragons and I just didn't care.) I put on my best non-apathetic face and said "yes". She ran off and re-emerged shortly with both hands behind her back, eager to show me her book. She asked me to guess and I told her I didn't know. With a smile that spread from ear to ear she produced her Bible from behind her back. Proud but incredibly humbled I told her what a great choice that was and hugged her neck. I knew that our reading Proverbs had led her to that choice and was thankful that God was moving in our family.

The next day when Morgan got home from school she told Christi and me how much fun she had reading her Bible outside. Later at lunch she was reading her Bible again when the Librarian came up behind her and put her hand on Morgan's shoulder. The librarian told Morgan she had picked the best book to read, and that Jesus was sitting in heaven smiling at her. Jesus was not the only one smiling....

Thanks David. A great testimony of God's use of everything in our lives.
