As we continue our study about prayer with an emphasis on looking at the prayers of Jesus, I encourage you to please continue to read the gospel of Mark. Remember that one of the best ways to become really familiar with the scripture is repetitive reading. There is so much in the gospel about how Jesus not only taught the truth, but he also demonstrated the truth by emphasizing what is most important.
I asked you to specifically study the prayer of Jesus in Gethsemane (Mark 14), and to consider a couple of questions as your read. Why did Jesus ask the Father that "the hour might pass Him by?" What was he "distressed and troubled" about to the point that he would ask the Father this? I also asked you to look at the disciples and to consider their response to Jesus request that they "watch and pray." How does their response reflect our responses to Jesus today?
