The Nation of Israel in the End
What is the Millennium Going to be Like? Alright, I think that based on what we have seen in the previous parts it is clear that God promised to the nation of Israel that the time would come when they would be the head nation of the world. How is this promise going to finally be fulfilled? This is the connection between the promise and the study of the book of Revelation, that we have been in probably too long, so thank you for your patience with me.
In Revelation 19 we see that Lord returning to the earth. The Lord comes on a white horse; defeats the armies of the earth; takes the beast and the false prophet and throws them into the lake of fire. Then, at the beginning of Revelation 20, God bounds Satan and throws him into the abyss for a thousand years (millennium). In Revelation 20:4 we see a resurrection of the dead who we are told reign with Christ for the millennium. These are not the church, because the church has been with the Lord already for seven years. These dead saints will include the Old Testament saints, up through John the Baptist. Like John the Baptist, they are friends of the groom, not the bride. It will include the Tribulation saints. This is the fulfillment of the first resurrection that began with Jesus (1 Cor. 15:20), continued with the rapture of the church (1 Cor. 15:52), and finished here with the Old Testament saints. It will not include the lost dead, because they will not be resurrected and judged until after the millennium. The saints that survive the Tribulation will all be Christian and will populate the earth during the millennium. These saints will be mortal.
So, the Kingdom age will include those who survived the Tribulation, those from the Old Testament, and the Church. Those from the Old Testament and the Church will all have a new body. Those who survive the Tribulation will have a mortal body. They will all rule and reign with Christ. What are some other characteristics of the Kingdom Age? I will just look at a few from one prophet. All of the prophets had something to say about this time.
• It will be a time of righteous living because people will be forced to obey. (Is. 2:1-3)
• The Lord alone will be exalted. (Is. 2:17)
• The Lord will reign over everything and as a King. (Is. 9:6-7; 11:4-5)
• Things will be like it was in the Garden of Eden and the animals will be freed from the curse of sin. (Is. 11:5-9)
• It will be a time of praise and great productivity with no hunger (Is. 12; Is. 30:23-25)
• The Lord will be so close that He will direct every step. (Is. 30:20-21)
• The ecology of the world will be changed. (Is. 30:26)
• This will be time of righteousness. (Is. 32)
• Those in their resurrection Body will be like the Lord was after His resurrection.
• There will be no sickness. (Is. 35:5-6)
• Even the earth will not be lacking in any way. (Is. 35:7)
This is going to be golden age, but it will end in a bad way. Why? Because the people are still lost and even a great, perfect environment like this cannot change their lostness. In the end Satan will be released for a season, short as it may be, and those who are not saved will still be separated from God, FOREVER.
