As we move forward with our study of The Revelation, we will be exposed to a number of differing thoughts relative to how it all works out. The questions are not about the Lord returning, or, will we spend eternity with Him? The questions that are asked, and without agreement by biblical scholars through-out history, deal with just how does it all come about? What is the time-line of the events that take place? Just how does it come down? Most agree that the time-line can be developed in what I would group as being six main blocks of time and in those blocks of time are specific events. They are:
BLOCK 1: First Advent of Christ
BLOCK 2: Church Rapture
BLOCK 3: Tribulation
BLOCK 4: Second Advent
BLOCK 5: Millennial Reign of Christ on Earth
BLOCK 6: New Heaven and Earth
The agreement ends with the recognition of the blocks. Most accept that BLOCKS 1 AND 2 must be at the beginning and the end, and since the new heaven and earth are the end, then it must be at the end. Most accept the understanding that the second advent must precede the millennium, BUT not all agree on this. Many disbelieve in the reality of the Rapture, and, if one does accept the reality of this event, when DOES it happens is of much discussion. These differences on when the rapture occurs and when the second advent is going to happen, results in us who read and study the scriptures being labelled either a Pre-tribulationist, Mid-tribulationist, or Post-tribulationist, or a Pre-millenialist, Mid-millenialist, or Post-Miiienialist. Which are you, and better still, why?
