Last week

After discussing the history of the people from Abraham to the divided kingdom, we discussed again the impact of the empires of Assyria, Babylon, and Persia. We also discussed how the integrity of the prophecies of Isaiah was established by God allowing him to prophecy about things that were fulfilled in his time. As we consider the prophetic words of Isaiah relative to things that have yet to be fulfilled, the integrity of those things should also be based on the truth that Isaiah’s prophecies about those things that were to happen after his death, Cyrus of Persia and also the coming of the Messiah, came to pass just as he prophesized.
We also looked again at Ahaz, but this time we looked at him and his son Hezekiah. We discussed the differences of these two men and how even though Ahaz was such an ungodly man, his son was able to see beyond his father to do what was right in the eyes of God.

This Next Week
Reading for next Week: Isaiah 36-39; 2 Kings 18-21; 2 Chronicles 29-33

We ended last week with the following questions for this coming week:
1. What king of Assyria was defeated by God’s answer to the prayers of Hezekiah?
2. In the end, how does this Godly man named Hezekiah end?
3. Who is the son of Hezekiah and what kind of man was he?
4. We see all over the prophecy of Isaiah that as a result of their ungodly lives and their worship of false gods, that God judged the people. Does God judge Christians in the same way? (Helps: Romans 8:1; Heb. 12; 1Cor. 11:29-34; 1Cor. 3:10-15; 2Cor. 2:10) You can use these texts and follow your cross-references to find other scriptures.
